In the previous post I mentioned that in the second section of the dance the Isis wings take centre stage with various poses, inspired by the following video where the two dancers create some great shapes:
I had a play with this idea. I improvised both times and it is interesting to see where in the music I returned to a similar or complementary pose.
In the Technique, Fitness and Fun class we have started working on the spectrum of shimmer to loose shimmy and layering these over other movements. Next week we will work on creating smooth pathways of movement around the body. These skills help to create beautiful taxim. I imagine the other dancers doing a taxim as the Isis wings create shapes.
I have asked students to think about shapes for the Isis wing duo and we will workshop these in the next class.
